Technology Education, Connection & Help (TECH)
Technology is integral to almost everything we do today and offers advantages like convenience and cost savings. Some older adults feel they are missing out on opportunities if they don’t have access to the internet or a device, or have limited knowledge about technology and how to use it.
Our TECH team members are experts in working with adults age 60 and older to navigate this new digital landscape. Here’s how we can help:
Access to internet service and devices
We can help you find affordable internet service providers and help determine eligibility for the Affordable Connectivity Program. If you need a device (smartphone, tablet, laptop), we can make recommendations based on individual needs.
Connecting a device
We’ll help connect your device to the internet, and adjust settings for basic use, communication, online safety, and security features.
Personalized usage
Once connected, tell us what you’d like to do and we’ll help you personalize your device. We can suggest functions, services, and apps that will be most useful to you, and help you learn how to use them.

Resources for "do-it-yourselfers"
Our technology support coordinators have developed an FAQ to answer common questions about internet services and using your device(s), including:
- Computers/laptops
- Tablets
- Smartphones
- Smart TVs
- Television streaming services
There are also security tips that can help you protect your personal information and avoid fraud and scams. Visit the technology resource page if you want to try some troubleshooting on your own.
In-person support at designated locations
This option is best for step-by-step coaching to learn
or troubleshoot a specific task or function. We have dedicated tech support volunteers who donate their time to work with you in person at various Senior Centers. Check your local senior center’s events calendar or contact the center nearest you to make an appointment.

Phone support
This option is best for tasks like resetting passwords,
downloading an app, or accessing voicemail. Call
during business hours for quick troubleshooting
advice.
In-home support
This option is best for getting help with home-based services like desktop computers, smart TVs, and streaming devices or troubleshooting home internet service.
*Current HOME program participants will not need to submit a new application.
Services we do NOT provide
- Help with devices owned by a company
- Help with business related software or hardware
- Help with tax preparation, personal accounting, or other financial assistance
- Replace or add cable or ethernet wiring or connections inside walls or in areas difficult to access
- Failed hardware data recovery
- Hardware repair (broken screens, failed batteries, inoperable printers, etc.)
If we’re unable to solve the problem or it requires service that we don’t provide, we’ll do our best to suggest next steps to take.
